Why Yoga?
Yoga became a part of my life 20 years ago when a friend invited me to a heated vinyasa class. Regularly attending classes made me realize that I had the power to grow and transform through mindfulness and movement. Due to having Joint Hypermobility Syndrome and a non-typical "yoga body" shape, I offer a unique perspective on yoga.
In 2021, I decided to retire from teaching yoga. This break has allowed me to experience a shift in my body and mind, renewing my relationship with yoga. I am grateful to be part of the yoga community and look forward to this journey together.
What inspires you about the HOY community?
Since Jackie D. started House of Yoga in York, I have been inspired by her commitment to the community and creating an inclusive space to share the gift of yoga. The community stands together in ways not often seen in yoga communities. You can sense the energy of love, creation, and inclusivity when you enter the space.
Why do you Teach?
I teach to provide accessibility and space for you to discover yoga in YOUR body. I see numerous possibilities within students and believe in the transformations that can occur through a yoga practice. Having experienced this myself, I aim to inspire all my students. I aspire for my students to leave class feeling joyful, empowered, and full of self-love. Ultimately, I teach to leave you inspired, encouraging you to envision a world brimming with new possibilities and foster your adventurous spirit.
What fires me up off the mat?
I find peace in the mountains or by the lake, experiencing nature. In my kitchen, I often create nourishing meals for my loved ones and take time to meditate over a cup of tea. Listening to music daily is a must for me, and I incorporate this love of music into all my classes. My family is the light of my life, and I feel blessed to be their matriarch.
