Experience:

I began my yoga journey at an early age and continued through the following decades until receiving Teacher Training from House of Yoga 2023-24. After reconstructive surgeries I embraced using props and modifications in my practice. After becoming a mom, yoga taught me the inner solace and strength that resides within, the peaceful warrior.

Why Yoga?

There is a spirituality that is nameless and amorphous within the practice of yoga. We are not asked to sit in penance, but to find peace in movement and serenity in inner acceptance. The correctness of yoga is in listening to your body and quieting your Inner Saboteur.

What inspires you about the HOY community?

Truthfully, it was first the color of the walls. They lacked the stark white of many places, instead the warmth of jewel tones that celebrate the gem in each of us. Likewise, its patrons and teachers felt like a treasure that lay in plain sight amongst the backdrop of York’s sleepy downtown. Now HoY is the crown in my life that I have made by practicing with its precious gems that teach and practice there.

Why do you Teach?

Because there are many students like myself in need of a block or a bolster, and need to know it is not a sign of weakness to reach for help. In fact there is strength in being resourceful and kind to your self.

What fires me up off the mat?

I love a story and yoga is a story we tell within ourselves and with our movement. It is ancient and modern. It is dramatic and melancholy. It provides strength and healing. I am a writer, a journalist and I love anything that captures our existence and the story of life on our planet.
